Círculos de Salud (in English, Circles of Health) is a national investigation project known as "Avanza Ciudadanía Digital". Its aim is to develop an advanced social network specially designed for people with health problems.
Círculos De Salud is conceived as an advanced social network and it is focused on people with functional diversity problems. Its purpose is the social inclusion of all people. The participation is not only open to disabled people but also to health professionals and therapists, carers, institutions and stakeholders. Users will be able to share experiences, get specific information and knowledge, share it and give their opinions and eventually have repercussion on social policies. This network allows the user not only to share experiences and knowledge, but also to have access to special tools. These tools make the user be able to do comparative analysis about the quality of life, health indicators and rehabilitation therapies. In other words, it is a complete tool that will allow knowledge sharing.
Círculos de Salud is based on a laboratory called Qvidlab which do research on autonomy enhancer measures, personal satisfaction and the quality of life of people who suffer spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury. This is a clinical investigation tool that is developed at "Institut Guttmann" and its aim is to study a collection of biological, psychological and social factors that affect people who suffer the above mentioned injuries.
This is a one-year long project that is going to be developed from 2009 to 2011. The participants are Barcelona Digital Centro Tecnológico and Instituto de Neurorrehabilitación Guttmann.
